Spain's second album She Haunts My Dreams contains more of the dreamy, lounge-tinged pop that made their first album The Blue Moods of Spain a critical and cult favorite. Songs like "Nobody Has to Know" feature Josh Haden's smoky vocals and moody arrangements and continue Spain's compellingly melancholy direction. Whereas Spain's debut revealed a lack in Haden's voice, they make up a strength out of that point. Haden's vocals sounds much more appropriate to the band's dreamful play. "Nobody Has to Know" sounds like the perfect marriage of Haden's singing and the band's hovering way to play. Spain presents warm pockets of silence in their songs, space between the notes.
With She Haunts My Dreams Spain have set their finest work up-to-date.
